Dana R. Desser, DO is a Board-Certified and Fellowship Trained Orthopaedic Surgeon. He is dedicated to providing technically superb and compassionate care to his patients. Dr. Desser focuses his treatment on most musculoskeletal conditions. He especially enjoys treating shoulder injuries, hip and knee arthritis, as well as meniscus and cartilage injuries. He also specializes in treating sports-related injuries.

Dr. Desser is now offering outpatient total knee replacement with the use of the SwiftPath™ Method.   Dr. Desser has been trained as a SwiftPath™ surgeon and utilizes advanced, minimally invasive techniques as well as proven pain management protocols including the Zonal Peri-Articular Block.  Most important is his focus on patient/family engagement.  As SwiftPath™ surgeon, he maintains high volume in knee replacements, demonstrates excellence in joint replacement surgery.  He and his team have integrated the techniques of the SwiftPath Method into their practice.

Dr. Desser has a passion for treating all patients interested in returning to a healthier and more active lifestyle. He has spent a significant amount of time focusing on the concept of Regenerative Orthopaedics.

Dr. Desser has sub-specialty training in the treatment of arthritis in the hip and knee. He offers both non-surgical and surgical treatment options and he attempts to provide non-surgical treatment options when appropriate. Whenever indicated, he utilizes amniotic fluid therapy, also known as stem cell therapy, to keep his patients out of the operating room. If you are found to not be a candidate for stem cell therapy, his fellowship training allows him to offer cutting-edge surgical treatment options.

Dr. Dana Desser Education and Medical Training

Dr. Desser earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Erie, Pennsylvania. He performed his Internship at Wellington Regional Medical Center in Wellington, Florida. He then completed Surgical Internship at Milton S. Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania. He went on to do his Residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at Memorial Hospital in York, PA. Dr. Desser then performed a fellowship in Adult Hip and Knee Joint Reconstruction at Union Memorial in Baltimore, Maryland. He is currently in private practice at Florida Orthocare.

Dr. Desser’s research has been in peer-reviewed journals and he has served as a National Presenter.

In his spare time, he enjoys golf, CrossFit and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Dr. Desser is actively involved in the community. He was selected as the 2012 and 2013 honorary chairs for the Arthritis Foundation Walk. He also was the co-chair for the Wellington Boys and Girls Club Gala in January 2015.
