Often you may need to visit an orthopedic surgeon for work-related injuries and knee pain to finally get relief.

What Are Common Causes for Knee Pain?

Knee pain is often caused by injuries. There may have been a blow to the knee, or you may have fallen or twisted or sprained it. Work-related knee injuries can also take a long time to heal, particularly if the injury goes as deep as the cartilage. The second most common reason for knee pain is from being in automobile accidents.

While muscular injuries heal the quickest, if yours doesn’t, it could indicate a much deeper issue, such as a ruptured ligament or torn cartilage.

There are also certain diseases and medical conditions that can lead to knee pain.

There are some indications that you may have a problem with one or both knees. Swelling or stiffness in one or both knees is one indication. How Can Knee Pain Be Treated?

Once your doctor has diagnosed a knee condition, you may be sent off for an MRI test to determine the exact location of the problem. You may also have an x-ray, ultrasound, or a CT-scan. Lab tests may be required if it’s believed you have inflammation or an infection.

Treatment plans can vary, depending on the root cause of the pain. If you have arthritis or gout, medications may be prescribed. Physical therapy can be helpful in strengthening the muscles around the knee to make it more stable. Exercises also helps.

Arch support and braces can also help to take pressure away from the knee but still allow you to walk. There are certain injections that can be given, such as corticosteroids, hyaluronic acid, or PRP.

Surgery is often the last option after some of the other therapies haven’t worked that well. Arthroscopic surgery not only allows your surgeon to find the exact location of an injury, but corrective surgery can be performed after immediate diagnosis.

There are also options for partial or total knee replacement if there is too much damage inside. All of these therapies are designed to help get you walk again.
